More World Junior Hockey - Sweden vs. Latvia

We went with Stran and Nev yesterday to another World Junior hockey game (and we're going again today too); this time it was Sweden vs. Latvia. The entire population of Latvia is about the same size as the city of Ottawa so even though they're one of the worst teams in the competition, it's still quite impressive that they're in the top 10 hockey nations in the world. Anyway, the Swedes skated circles around them all day but the crowd was definitely cheering for the Latvians.

Team captain and star player for Sweden, Moller; he plays for the LA Kings.
Big save! I love how you can see the snow flying up off the ice!

Hedman, expected to be drafted in the top 3 in next year's NHL entry draft.

The Swedish goalie wasn't very busy; he only faced 10 shots in the entire game; the Latvians did, however, score a beautiful goal on their very first shot of the game, in the last minute of the first period.

I just like this shot...

A rather disappointed goalie; again, the puck is in the back of the net.
Despite the loss, he did make some huge saves.

Final score, 10-1 for the Swedes (could have been 30-1). Note the difference in the shot count.
