Edible Eyeballs

So, I should probably be saving these photos for tomorrow but since it's unlikely my fellow party-goers will have the time to check out my blog before tomorrow evening I thought it would be safe to post pics of the creepy treats I made for Brigitte and Craig's halloween party!
They're cherry chip cupcakes with strawberry-rhubarb jam infused into the centres...I wanted them to ooze when you bite into them....muahahahaha (think vampire laugh)! The rest is pretty self-explanatory I think. I can't take credit for the decor idea; must thank Epicurious for that! :)

And because I cannot help myself......
Those 'in the know' will know that these are Manolos and, VERY SADLY, they are not mine (the wrinkly foot is mine though). Some may recognize these as Miss Janny's wedding shoes. We attended a gathering tonight at Jenn's house and I pretty-much made Janny bring them so that I could see them for real and maybe even walk a few steps in them. I was able to get them on but they were a bit snug so I didn't actually walk in them....but this is as close to wearing Manolos as I'll ever get so I had to savour the moment :)
Thanks Janny, for salvaging my otherwise cruddy day, and thanks to Jenn for your hospitality!

First Snow

So, we're having a blizzard....in October. We're expecting about 15 cm tonight and by Friday it's supposed to go back up to 13 degrees. Lucky for the trick-or-treaters; I remember when I was little, some years we had to wear our costumes over our snowsuits! So I guess this isn't all that odd but it doesn't mean I have to like it!
I took these a few minutes ago (around 9 pm) and it's only been snowing for a couple of hours. I can't wait to see what we wake up to tomorrow. Obviously there is nothing fancy about these, just wanted to show what we're dealing with! It was so blustery out I didn't even both to change a camera setting!

We started on the decor today for the Halloween party next Friday; there is plenty of scary stuff but this is the classy stuff....

With a Twist

So this is a rather odd blog entry today. The theme for our contest this week was "Twisted", as chosen by me. I liked the idea when I chose it but then more-or-less forgot about it until today (entries are due tonight). Anyway, in trying to think outside-the-box I came up with an apple peel and a cork screw - somehow they even wound up in the same photo :)

Back to Autumn

After a couple of days of wedding shots I thought I'd post some more Thanksgiving weekend shots from the lake; oh how I'm going to miss these colours when they're all finished :(

Sara(h) x Three (Sarah's getting-ready shots)

We started out at Terri-Lynn's to get Sarah's hair done...here are a few from there.

Just before attaching the veil...I was trying to find somewhere to put it for photo purposes and this was the best I could come up with. I had really hoped to be able to get Sarah in the shot too.

This really took me back to highschool where our group of friends included 3 Sara(h)s and 3 Melissas; Sarah and Sara came to help Sarah with her make-up...LOL!

Sarah did a great job on the MOB...even trying to sensor what she could hear!Make-up....so fun!

Sarah and her mom looked great when things were all said and done; this shot was a fluke but I really like it!

Sarah and Mario's Thanksgiving Wedding

Sarah and Mario exchanged vows on Sunday. I acted as their 'unofficial' photographer for their getting-ready shots (hair & make-up) and as their portrait photographer at the hotel where their guests were staying. I have to admit I am so relieved that I wasn't their actual ceremony photographer because even though I took a lot of pics there, they're not great given the difficulty I experienced with the lighting. Anyway, here are a couple of teasers from the 400+ photos I took. I'll go through them more carefully tomorrow and post some more.

Fall colours

A few more from yesterday....I love red leaves! The shot of the birds was a fluke and I wish I'd had my zoom lens with me....

Darling/Hull Wedding

Brannon and I attended Robin and Justin's wedding yesterday. They had a beautiful day and we were honoured to be involved in it (Brannon was an usher). Wishing them both all the best!
Guests were asked not to take photos during the ceremony so I was only able to grab a few immediately following the service and a few more during the reception. Unfortunately, almost everything I took inside came out grainy so I have a lot to learn about this kind of photography. Anyway, here a few....

The bridesmaids' bouquets were beautiful, such bright colours!
I used this shot/perspective several times....I like it!

Justin is a golfer so it was only appropriate that he "lined it up" when he went in for the garter!
