Loon Lake part 2

I photographed 2 individual groups (families?) of loons yesterday; this guy wasn't overly pleased with the attention.

Getting ready to do the loon dance :)

They come right out of the water!

Loon Lake

Even though I see them all the time I can never get enough of these beauties :)
I must admit though, that I find their red eyes a bit frightening!

Back to Autumn

After a couple of days of wedding shots I thought I'd post some more Thanksgiving weekend shots from the lake; oh how I'm going to miss these colours when they're all finished :(

Holiday Monday

Ok ok so I know it's Thursday already but I've been busy and am only getting around to posting these today. I would have done it yesterday but I stayed out late with a bunch of great WB girls (we closed the joint in fact!) and just didn't have the energy to post when I returned home.
Anyway, so Monday was a lazy-day for me; well, except for all the muskrat stalking. My father (and helpers) took out the dock at the lake that morning because the water levels are starting to drop; it seems a muskrat (family?) was displaced and several of them kept popping their little heads up close to shore. My mom managed to capture a really great close-up but they weren't so cooperative for me. This is the best I could get. I do like how the water looks around him though.

Where there is gunk in the water, there are frogs to be found! I'm more than a little curious about his interesting colouring; his head blends perfectly with the muck and I have to think his legs would help camouflage him when on land(???).I haven't the first clue what this is but they're everywhere at the lake right now. I'm really beginning to appreciate the season-ality of flora....
Just a burr
Chippy here was super-cooperative; he stood up and looked right at me, posing :)
Look how long his "fingers" are!

The last boat ride

I'm back from a long weekend of relaxation at the lake. I took ~500 photos this weekend and my computer is being a bit uncooperative so here are the first ones I liked enough to post from what I shot on Saturday (Sunday and Monday to come). These were taken on my last boat ride of the season, on the way to and at Lost Lake.
I particularly like this first one because of the strange symmetry these trees have.

There is something about a lonely tree...
No edits at all, it was a perfect day on the lake!

I'm a big fan of the Tragically Hip so when we passed by this boat (it was docked), my dad knew he had no choice but to turn back so I could catch a shot of this witty boat name! This was taken off the dock at my parent's house. No edits here either, it was a weekend of spectacular sunsets!
